Art_Vandelay asked:

I’ve already registered to vote in my hometown but I don’t plan on traveling home on a tuesday. How do I register to vote in my town at college?

jbloor@att.net asked:

Would love to hear from all, but am especially curious about wives (who are too tired to listen to/argue with their husband’s rantings) that might vote Democrat next November. Are you one of them? If not, do you think it may be a significant factor in the election?

Pops asked:

I know that this happened to Al gore but im not sure how this works. Whats the difference between an electoral vote and popular vote? What is an electoral vote?

No public campaigning for candidates please.

BlueEyes asked:

I know that the electoral votes are supposed to reflect the popular vote but they don’t in a lot of cases. This was a question to me by my Mom and I didn’t have a good answer. Can someone give a good answer please?

I am not registered with my party, and I was wondering how you are suppose to do that. You have to be registered with your party in order to vote in the primaries here. I am only 20, and there hasn’t been a primary since I’ve been old enough to vote. Thanks!

Tim N asked:

Why don’t we use the popular vote? This would seem the fairest way to do it. I mean how can you have a president elected who does not even have the majority of the people?
Why are we divided as states? Shouldn’t our focus be country first, state second? It would seem with the current setup we put our state before our country. I consider myself an American before a Georgian. You are right DD, it is ignorance that is why I asked the question, because I did not know.

?Judy? asked:

After the 2000 U.S. presidential election, just about everybody in the United States was talking about the Electoral College. In the end, of course, Gore won the popular vote (more Americans voted for him), but Bush actually won the presidency, because he was awarded the majority of the votes in the Electoral College.

so why even bother, maybe I am wrong, fine it demonstrates democracy and freedom, but if it does not count why bother?
The elector is nominated by his or her state party committee, we do not actually as citizens nominate them.
They can choose to go with the peoples vote but don’t always.

I have been looking for the popular vote total and have not been able to find the popular vote total for all of the primaries, and what I have found so far is that, with all the states that have released the popular vote total for their primaries, Clinton is leading 17,160,167 votes to Obama’s 16,804,164.

Has anyone found anything that contradicts this?

Let me upgrade ya asked:

I think this is an important election which is why I couldn’t vote for any Democrat, but I have heard so many nasty things said about the republican ticket that I would be willing to vote for them if they were murdering child molesters. I just want to see the liberals go completely insane (if they aren’t already).
Just think how mad they are going to be when Roe v. Wade is overturned. It is going to be great.
